Chic Chef Marketplace hosts grand opening in Phoenix | Featured Articles
PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — A new marketplace, described as a foodies paradise, held a grand opening ceremony in midtown Phoenix Saturday evening.
Dozens watched as Chef Nik Fields cut the ribbon to her new Chic Chef Marketplace on Central Avenue, just south of Thomas Road at 6 p.m. The marketplace features Chef Field’s curated gourmet foods, including her pasta, pasta sauces, pancake mix, maple syrups, spices, olive oils, vinegar, hot sauces, and cooking utensils. Chef Fields’s brand, Chic Chef Co., which focuses on all-natural and organic products, started as an online shop and now has a home near downtown Phoenix.
“I’ve always been a foodie at heart, and I think that sharing my love for food and passion for flavor was inevitable,” Chef Fields said.
Chef Fields initially started with the concept for the marketplace, but felt it wasn’t enough to encapsulate her vision, so she also has plans to open a full-service restaurant (still under construction) next door!
The Phoenix food scene continues to grow in national recognition as people from all walks of life continue to move to the area in droves for better weather and opportunities. Chef Fields hopes to add to that melting pot by introducing something to Phoenix she felt was missing.
“Phoenix has been missing the gourmet supermarkets and the gourmet boutique stores for custom created products. Every single product on the shelves are made by me, and I make every one of them with love,” Fields said.
On top of offering Chic Chef products, the marketplace will officer cooking classes, dietary classes, and free pop-up events for women entrepreneurs who want to jump-start their businesses and showcase some of their products and services.
“I wanted to give people what I didn’t have growing up, what I didn’t have when I started my business. I needed to have a mentor, someone to teach me how to do business, how to do inventory, how to price products,” Fields explained. “I’ll be holding pop-ups for all women in the culinary field who want to create their own product, or they have a product, and they want information on how to push it, how to make it bigger, and how to make it their own.”
Fields said she hopes that opening the marketplace and restaurant helps break down barriers and builds bonds through food.
“Food binds us all together; food is everywhere. If you have good food, you’re going to have a good time; it’s going to make you happy. I believe that this vision of mine is bigger than me, and by breaking down barriers and building bonds through food, you can’t be upset if you’re eating great food with great people!” Fields said.
