Everyone knows that when that bright red neon sign is on at Krispy Kreme it’s time to pull off the road and into the drive-thru to treat yourself to a hot glazed donut. It isn’t as if New Orleanians ever wanted an excuse to celebration. However after two years of COVID, the 2 months of indulgence referred to as Carnival appear fairly well-deserved. After being cancelled final 12 months, Mardi Gras is again: the parades, the costumes, and the king cake, a conventional candy deal with eaten solely at Carnival time within the Crescent Metropolis.

“Each Friday at college, youngsters are consuming king cake,” stated author Matt Haines. “Each day in workplace break rooms, on the parade route, together with your family and friends. King cake is all over the place.”
